Attuned to this harvest time of year, you can reap a cornucopia of bargains at the Dillard’s Clearance Center.
Located in the Fiesta Mall at the intersection of US-60 and Alma School Road in Mesa, this clearance store offers a crop of bargains.
(The Valley also has a second Dillard’s Clearance Center in the Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix).
The Fiesta Mall clearance store is on the lower level at the west end of the mall. There are three store entrances: one from the inside of the mall and two on the west end next to the covered parking. The clearance center is only on the lower level, so don’t be confused by the large Dillard’s sign facing US 60 high on the south side of the mall. Drive down around the west end of the mall to get to the covered-parking area next to the lower-level entrances to the Dillard’s center.
Dillard’s stands among the largest fashion-apparel and home-furnishing retailers in the United States. Our East Valley clearance center overflows with bargains gleaned from Dillard’s many far-flung retail stores. Unlike some clearance centers of other retailers, this Dillard’s outlet sells only new merchandise.
You’ll find a bumper crop of bargains. Most things are marked down 65 percent from the retail-store price, and other items are marked down even more: 30-60 percent additional off the already-65-percent-off sales price. One of my friends bought a dress originally selling for $150 at 65 percent off plus an additional 60 percent off. The final price? A mere $21!
And what a collection of bargains you’ll glean. Endless racks of clothes stretch across the selling floor. Unlike some bargain centers, Dillard’s carefully organizes the merchandise and displays things by size and by category. The store is clean, easy to explore, and roomy for pleasant shopping.
A big caveat: all sales are final. Try on the clothing to make sure things fit. If you are buying for someone other than yourself — someone who does not accompany you — make sure you have correct measurements and sizes.
The clearance center sells mostly clothes. However, you can gather some household items: placemats, valances, and shower curtains, bed skirts, decorative pillows and pillow shams. You’ll find a small assortment of dishes and drinking glasses. The merchandise will vary depending on what items are plucked from the other stores.
Before you go, find out what things are on sale each week. Call the Clearance Center hotline to learn which items are the current super bargains: (480) 833-7777.
Also, be aware that the Clearance Center observes unusual hours. The store is closed on Mondays. Tuesday through Saturday the store is open from noon until 7 p.m. On Sunday, the store is open from noon until 6 p.m.
